Eastern Beach Promenade from above, that perfect horseshoe of timber and steel curving out into Corio Bay like it's been there forever. Which, give or take, it has. Built in the 1930s, it's been the centrepiece of Geelong summers ever since, with BYO marquees, BBQs on the grass, and queues for the diving boards that somehow never seem to move any faster.
Winter tells a completely different story. The marquees are gone, the grass is empty, and it's just the committed few who brave the chilly water before work and act like it's completely normal. It is a Geelong institution in every season, just a quieter, colder one for half the year.
